Decluttering Your Mind In 5 Simple Steps

Decluttering your home can be as simple as placing everything on eBay. This may be a bit simplistic, but it is certainly doable, don’t you think? In order to clear your mind, though, it is not really viable to unload your thoughts upon eager online purchasers…or is it? Here’s 5 suggestions for decluttering your mind:

1. Make Your Space More Organized

What we eat…and what we see…makes us who we are. People may disagree about whether or not violent movies might spawn a generation of messed-up, angry children. Honestly, that’s a debate best left for another day. My first suggestion is to err on the side of caution and clean the environment around us to avoid any potential problems. By having fewer items in our range of vision, we have fewer pieces of junk to stew over and worry about, allowing us to free up more mental space.

2. Make A Clean Sweep Of Your Schedule.

Constantly jumping from one task to another is another factor that not only might drive you crazy but also adds stress to your life. So my second suggestion is to review your schedule and start eliminating activities that aren’t absolutely necessary. Instead of helping you, having unnecessary activities on your schedule are only making things worse by adding stress to your day. Therefore, a cluttered schedule only provides you with more food to pour into the ever-spreading mental stew of worry!

3. Disconnect From The Festivities.

Is it possible to sleep and rest comfortably if you were at a party with thousands of people, such as one in Times Square on New Year’s Eve? Well, the same thing is happening with your smartphone. I’m guessing your like most of us. Your smartphone is connected to a number of social media networks at the same time. Every one of the pings, dings, and rings from numerous notifications. These notifications as well as the excitement of discovering a new message, all contribute to minor but harmful amounts of stress throughout the day.

4. Become More Observant Of Your Surroundings.

Mindfulness is all about being totally present in the moment and being fully alive in the moment. A variety of techniques can be used to develop the skill of mindfulness. Techniques ranging from meditation to simply staring at an object (such as a candle) and considering its existence. Practicing mindfulness will assist you in learning how to push relevant problems out of your conscious thought process. By doing so, you will more easily be able to concentrate more effectively and have a discover the benefits of an organized mind.

5. Let Go Of The Reins.

That scene from Titanic where Kate tells Jack, “I’ll never let you go,” comes to mind. It’s true that sometimes it’s best to let go of old memories. Whether it’s about broken relationships or evil bosses, we have a lot of backstory floating around in the back of our minds. Simply letting go will result in your mind operating at a much faster rate. If you think about it, it’s much like a computer that has suddenly become more responsive and responsive.
